When Steam Ran the Clinchfield by James A. Goforth, During the steam era, a total of 128 locomotives saw service on the Clinchfield, ranging from the 39-ton 4-4-0 to the 500-ton Challenger. This pictorial history begins with the Carolina, Clinchfield & Ohio Railway Locomotive Roster (nine pages), complete with number, builder, date, etc. Remarks such as "retired" roster photos and "scrapped" are noted along with other pertinent information. The final two pages contain a "Locomotive Engineers Seniority List for 1947", which gives dates employed roster photos and promoted. Filling the pages between are more than 100 photographs of great variety, including a section of photos taken by "Rail Photographer Extraordinaire", Floyd A. Bruner of Marion, N.C. There are also many early photographs, like the first passenger train to Altapass in 1906, roster photos and one of the Class E-3 (war surplus) purchased in 1947, as well as an interesting "Before roster photos and After" that shows two photos of No. 1. The final series, titled Wrecks, includes one of the earliest known wreck photos, made in 1906, north of Forbes, North Carolina.

Photo Odyssey: Solomon Carvalho's Remarkable Western Adventure, 1853-54 by Arlene B. Hirschfelder, X In 1853 explorer Colonel John Charles Fremont invited photographer roster photos and fine artist Solomon Nunes Carvalho to accompany his fifth, roster photos and final, western expedition. As the official photographer, Carvalho documented the trip from the Mississippi River to Utah with daguerreotypes--a unique roster photos and often unwieldy form of photography that produces images on large silver plates. Carvalho was a skilled photographer, but he was a novice on the trail roster photos and he battled with the hardships of the journey. He not only was challenged by the physical strain but, as an observant Jew, struggled to maintain his commitment to Judaism, even when observing strict dietary laws meant that he did not eat. Carvalho's own words, from the journal he kept roster photos and from letters he wrote home to his wife, provide a vivid firsthand view of his remarkable adventure. With many apt excerpts from his descriptions, author Arlene Hirschfelder has written a detailed account of the life of this little-known, yet widely accomplished, man. EXPEDITION ROSTER, MAP, INDEX.

Developmental roster - In Major League Soccer, in addition to a senior roster, each team can carry a developmental roster of up to ten (before 2005, six) players, whose contracts do not count against the salary cap. The roster includes Generation adidas (before 2005, Project-40) signees and other players (usually recent college graduates) 24 or younger, called developmental players. Expanded roster - The expanded roster in Major League Baseball refers to teams being able to increase the number of available players for each game from 25 players to 40 players on September 1. Although few teams regularly fill this extra roster room to its capacity, teams usually add a few select September call-ups -- minor league players added to the Major League roster after August 31. Non-roster invitee - A non-roster invitee in baseball is a player invited to play in spring training without a guaranteed roster spot. Often, these are top porspects or journeyman veterans, or can be someone coming off Tommy John surgery or other surgeries. Cleveland Indians roster - ====40-man roster====
